Eridanous

For Lidl’s iconic Eridanous range, we developed over 1,000 packaging designs for Greek products exported and sold across more than 30 countries in Europe and the US. This global private-label line is one of Lidl’s strongest tools for promoting authentic Greek cuisine internationally, bringing products such as olive oil, feta, yogurt, and ready meals to millions of consumers.
Our role covered full packaging design, adaptation, and brand consistency across an extensive and diverse portfolio of SKUs, ensuring every pack communicated both quality and authenticity.

Brief

Lidl needed a unified, modern packaging system for Eridanous that could scale globally while still conveying the richness of Greek tradition and cuisine.

The design needed to:

  1. Establish a clear, premium, and trustworthy “Greek Origin” identity for a diverse range of products.
  2. Be robust enough to handle the volume of data and regulatory changes for over 30 global markets (nutritional tables, ingredient lists, supplier information, and multiple languages).
  3. Support Lidl’s strategic goal of promoting Greek producers and extending the reach of high-quality Greek goods across their entire global store network.

Challenge

The challenge lay in the scale and complexity of the project. Delivering more than 200 designs within a tight three-month window required flawless project management, speed, and precision.

Each product needed tailored design details, nutritional tables, multi-language labeling, and coordination with multiple producers across Greece.

This was a test of our adaptive design capabilities, quality control processes, and technological efficiency under a deadline critical to Lidl’s global calendar.

Results

The Eridanous range was successfully rolled out across Lidl stores in Europe and the US, establishing itself as a flagship line that promotes Greek food culture worldwide.

New Communication successfully met the extreme demands of the Eridanous project, delivering over 1,000 complex packaging artworks on time and without critical error. We validated our agency’s capacity for managing complex, multinational, high-volume adaptive design projects, proving our ability to be a strategic operational partner for major global retailers.

The new Eridanous packaging serves as an effective global marketing platform for Greek products, communicating quality and authentic origin, contributing to Lidl’s strategy of gaining consumer trust in their private label categories internationally.
