Awarded Wines

For Lidl, we designed the packaging for a new range of monovarietal wines, Syrah, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Our agency was responsible for the full packaging design, including illustration, label design, and art direction.

The goal was to create wine labels that could position Lidl wines as elegant, trustworthy, and great value for money, appealing to consumers who appreciate premium design without premium prices.

Lidl Wines project (Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay) branding Packaging

Brief

The strategic challenge was to use the packaging to communicate sophistication and quality, thereby changing consumer perception of the product’s value.

  1. Elevate Perception: Design a label that is minimal and elegant, positioning the wine to visually challenge more expensive, premium competitors.

  2. Establish Value: Conduct wide market research to identify the competitive opportunity and create a design that anchors the wine as an excellent, yet affordable, option.

  3. Create Meaningful Distinction: Infuse the design with a unique narrative to connect the product to its place of origin (Greece) and enhance its authenticity.

Challenge

The strategic challenge was to use the packaging to communicate sophistication and quality, thereby changing consumer perception of the product’s value.

  1. Minimalist & Elegant Design: We selected a clean, expansive white label and premium typography, allowing the unique illustration to be the singular focus of high-end wine branding.
  2. Unique Endemic Illustrations: The key differentiator was the hand-drawn illustration on each bottle, which depicts a unique characteristic of the wine’s production area.

    1. Merlot 2014: Features the Kraspedoti Peloponnese Turtle.

    2. Syrah 2015: Features the Galani Lykaena of the Peloponnese.

    3. Chardonnay 2015: Features the Greek Stickleback of the Spercheios River.
